Preamps

Hello All out there on this site
i am reasonably new to the world of basses and all of the stuff that goes along with it, and i was looking at a "tech21 SansAmp" preamp for my bass (ibanez talman), as it has a lot of features all in one that suits what i want.
Are these preamps very good or are they a complete rip-off and a waste of time buying?
Appreciate any advice, thanks

I've never used one myself, have you tried watching any video reviews on YouTube? I know when I'm looking at gear I always go their first to get an idea of what's available and its capabilities.
