Backing Tracks / Re: Backing Track Guide
« Last post by bongosmongo on July 13, 2019, 11:16:04 pm »
Something I posted last year:

I usually open my DAW (Reaper in this case), select the song I want to use, determine the approx. tempo and the time signature and I use what Reaper calls a Tempo Envelope, which I use to match the click with the song. Once I've done this I transcribe the drums onto a MIDI track (Most times I'll use drumtrigger to transcribe the Bass drum, makes things go a little faster). When I'm satisfied with the transcription, I'll make sure the drum mix is good and fine tune the velocity of all the drum hits to make it sound as natural as possible (Humanizer helps). After this, I'll practice the Bass line and get it down (If I'm lazy I'll just program a MIDI bassline). Once I've recorded the bass, Voila! It's usually ready for a mixdown unless percussion (Tambourine, Shaker, Vibra Slap, etc) is required. Before I submit the backingtrack to be shared, I'll pick up the guitar and jam with it to make sure it's alright. Almost forgot, I use Steven Slate Drums 4 for the drum samples and Native Instrument's Scarbee bass for MIDI basslines. Here's some of my work: http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/author/Axefiend.htm Hope this helps. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with. Cheers!!

This was very helpful. Do you know of any free, or low-cost alternatives to Trigger 2. An app that can detect the drum beats, then assign them to EZdrummer?
You've probably figured this out but....  although I've never used Reaper, in most DAW's you can just select and move all the tracks one bar to the right, then in the empty bar add 4 beats as an intro (if it's 4/4 time, for example).

I play on the streets in Little Rock. This site seems amazing, but alas I cannot make a backing track with only my phone.  Ya'll know if there is anyway someone can get full access without submitting a track?

Is there any possibility of getting the midi (or sequencer) file of the backing track? Just curious.
