Hi Shaunus,

thanks for the feedback! My next project is obviously to make a submission solution for the BTs that works. I'm not sure how to do this at the time, but I'll figure something out eventually. In the meantime, you can attach the BTs to an e-mail and send to webmasterXXXguitarbackingtrack.com (exchange the XXX for @). Or you can use Pando (www.pando.com) or YouSendIt (www.yousendit.com) and send to the same e-mail address. Other alternatives are MegaUpload (www.megaupload.com) and RapidShare (www.rapidshare.com). If you have many tracks you could compress them using zip or rar to make it easier to upload.

All submissions are appreciated! And will help the site grow.

General Discussion / Re: MP3 downloads available!
« on: April 09, 2007, 03:20:16 pm »
Well,

the problem is that Firefox and IE and Opera have small differences in how they interpret HTML and in this case headers. I think the problem is fixed now, just had to add a few "s in the script. At least it works fine in all browser I have tested now (various versions of Firefox, IE and Opera). I've also added hot-link protection, so that the downloads have to be linked from this page in order to work. Otherwise other pages could link directly to the MP3s and steal my bandwidth. If there are any more issues, please let me know. I appreciate the feedback and will work towards making this page as good as it can get.

Hmm, that's weird..

It seems it is a Firefox problem. It works in Opera and IE7 (and IE6), but Firefox tries to save the file as .htm. I'll look into this and try to fix it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Request Backing Tracks / Re: 1 more for you to do Webmaster!

Sorry Mac,

I've looked everywhere for a BT for Brothers, but had no luck. I haven't even heard the song myself, so it would take too long to make a BT. Hope you succeded in your shred contest though! Sorry I couldn't be of more help this time.

If anyone else can contribute this backing track it would make our day..

Hi,

I've added a backing track for Baroque and Roll here (Click "Download this backing track as MP3" for download):
http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/play/malmsteen,_yngwie/baroque_and_roll.htm

I'm not sure if the quality is sufficient for your needs, but I hope you can use it. You should have a few days to practice playing along with it until wednesday. Good luck and enjoy the BT!

Thanks & Spanks / List of donators
« on: March 19, 2007, 08:58:25 pm »
Hi,

a big thanks to the very first donator to guitarbackingtrack.com:
Raymond from Canada donated 10 bucks!

All donations will be used to get better servers and more bandwidth for the site. With the lanch of MP3 downlods, the site is starting to draw massive amounts of bandwidth, so any help is appreciated. Again, thanks a lot Raymond!

General Discussion / MP3 downloads available!
« on: March 17, 2007, 12:41:33 am »
So,

I finally got around to fixing a download solution for the BTs. You can now download the tracks by clicking the "Download this backing track as MP3" link below the player when playing a BT. If the MP3 file is not up, it will say "MP3 download of this file not available. Click here to request it.". If you need that particular BT in MP3 format, just click the link and I'll be notified and I'll try to add it in a few days.

I'll have to watch the bandwidth and it may be necessary to implement some restrictions to the downloads, ie. that you'll have to be a member to download MP3's. Membership will of course be free. So please, don't download all BTs in one go as that would cripple my bandwidth.

Hope you'll enjoy the MP3's!

Edit: I think all MP3s are up now. Thanks to all that have notified me of missing files.

Share Your Tracks / Share your BT's here!
« on: February 18, 2007, 01:35:36 pm »
Hi,

the attachment feature on the forum has been fixed. You can now attach up to 4 tracks, each up to 20 MB in size, to each post. You can submit MP3, OGG and WMA files for now. Just click the "Additional Options..." link below when posting a post and you'll be able to attach files. Please share any backing tracks you've made here (just reply to this thread and attach it to your post or start a new post in this section). Or, if you have tracks that have been requested, reply to the request thread and attach it there.

If you for some reason can't upload the tracks here, just attach them to an e-mail and shoot it over to webmaster [at] guitarbackingtrack.com

Thanks for your contributions!

Hey man,

thanks or the kind words. I've added a few SOAD BTs, but unfortunately I could only get a hold of Chop Suey from your list. I'll try to add more later. But for now, enjoy these:

Hi guys,

thanks for the comments Guitarman. My limited knowledge of Flash and ActionScript is increasing every day, so I hope to have mk II of the player up soon with A-B looping etc.

As for the downloads, I'm working on the script and I think I've got it nailed now. Here's an example link, please test it and give me feedback on download speed and if it works:
*snip*

EDIT: All songs are available in MP3 format now. Just click "Downlaod this track as MP3" below the player when viewing the track of your choice.

General Discussion / Welcome to GuitarBackingTrack
« on: November 08, 2006, 08:57:26 pm »
Hi,

welcome to the GuitarBackingTrack.com forums. Here you can discuss the site, backing tracks, music in general and whatever's on your mind. You can also request backing tracks.

The guitar backing tracks (BTs) on this site is intended for personal use. It's a supplement to guitar players worldwide, turning your bedroom into a full band jam session. While nothing is cooler than being in a band, every guitarist has to practice for themselves as well. With BTs you can play along to popular songs or jam along to cool grooves, without having to rely on band mates. The tracks are basically tunes with their guitars removed, making them perfect to playing along to. All tracks are made by regular guys and girls, and are used with their permission.

The BTs are currently available in MP3 format and can be played with and online player. You'll need the flash plugin for it to work, except on iOS where the builtin Quicktime player is used. Use the menu on top to navigate the bands or search using the search fields in the top right. When viewing a BT, click on the play button to play the track (it should start in a few seconds), the pause button to pause it, and the rewind button to return to the beginning of the song.

Please give me feedback on the site and the BTs, and any suggestions/comments/corrections are welcome.
