BIG UPDATE!
Guys, we've got some really good news here!

We've removed limit on downloads for all Backing Track Authors (aka The Contributors)!
We will never get tired of saying "HUGE Thanks!" to you guys! Without you this website wouldn't exist!

So, for all users who have a question:
"Does it mean that I will get unlimited downloads too if I submit a backing track?"
we have a simple answer: "Yes!"

In return for your contribution we will gladly remove the limit on downloads for your GuitarBackingTrack.com account.
We think it's only right and also hope (a bit ;)) that this step will help us enlarge the community and get more new Backing Track Authors.

Just a couple of side notes:
- please don't forget that we're still paying royalties for each download you guys make (you can read more about it in the first post of this topic). So we kindly ask you not to abuse the unlimited downloads  :P
- MIDI backing tracks won't count and won't give you unlimited downloads. Sorry, but it's general opinion that MIDI sound is not good enough. Thanks for your understanding.
For more information on how to create a simple Backing Track with a good sound, please check out the guides.

And as always: stay tuned for more new cool features soon!

When I try to download a track, it only copies the hyperlink???  How do I get the file on my device so I can use it in a different player?
That should not be the case.
Can you please send more details to webmaster{at}guitarbackingtrack.com?

I need details like these:
What's your browser?
Can you please attach a screenshot depicting your problem?

Waiting for your email.

They know difference between using and abusing, so don't worry
Thanks, mate ;)

Backing Tracks / Feedback Needed! The new submit page.
« on: December 10, 2016, 01:55:44 pm »
So guys we've redesigned the submit form a little bit -->  http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/submit.php

We really need your feedback about it and kindly ask you to share your thoughts with us!
We belive now it looks somewhat cooler and allows to state additional metainformation which a lot of users have been asking for.

First of all it's the "tuning"  and "BPM"
We've also added "genre" and "difficulty" as in future we are planning to have collections which will allow you to find something suitting your taste and skill more easily.

While we're thinking how to attach the new info of guitar tuning and tempo to the old backing tracks (15k), we think it's good if all new BTs will be added to the website with these fields already filled in at the submission stage :)

IMPORTANT!
For now new info of
- tuning
- BPM
- genre
- difficulty
is still not visible the player's page however this information you state at submission is recorded in our database.
As soon as we finish work on the player these fields will be visible there along with the key.

P.s.
We hope to roll out the new player page too next week  8)

I have never been a supporter of Ultimate Guitar. 21 years of teaching, 1000s of students...  I have told them all to avoid UG for the lack of quality.

I have been using this website for years and years and it's been one of the best resources for students. Now it's falling down the same awful path as UG's website, and failed apps.

I'm definitely not pleased.  Quantity over quality, it's a new millennial for the new millennials.

Thanks for your feedback.
The catalogue now lists a bit more than 15K backing tracks.
People write this in comments and it's a common truth recognized by the majority that resource as it is now provides a high quality stuff for the "oldies" and "classics"
Yet, there's always a room for improvement.

You know hundreds and hundreds of new melodies and tunes are being composed in Dorset alone ( https://youtu.be/v2cmjbgfbJc?t=114
So, we are working to make the service more valuable for the oldies -- intriducing interactive backing tracks soon, improving the player in general.
BUT we are also thinking how to make the content more versatile and be filled with latest songs as well not only oldies -- we created guides on creating backing tracks and are now concentrating on thinking about ways to encourage Backing Track Authors to share their fantastic work with guitarists all over the world.

And with all that licensing issues is something we have to deal with.

At the moment we are just a few dimes away from unprofitability.  I can tell you guys (and you can even find it even in this thread) that since we've gotten this website we've been receiving a lot of positive feedback from people who say that they would be willing to pay or donate some amount so that we could "keep up with the good work!"

And yet we're not planning to introduce any fees to users of the website.
We're just working to improve this fantastic service.

Backing Tracks / Feedback needed! Improving the player page.
« on: December 09, 2016, 05:16:56 pm »
So guys,
We are working on a new design of the  player right now and want to ask your opinion.

What information is most valuable on the player? And Why?

- number of views
- Author's description
- BPM
- genre
- guitar tuning
- difficulty
- key

Please also feel free to state any other type of metainformation.

Please share your thoughts with us.
Your feedback will be very much appreciated.

Seems no one else has noticed or has been impressed enough to write about it - we have been above 100000 downloads per day since september except for a few annoying holidays and recently broken the 150000 downloads per day milestone  .  Thats between one and two downloads per second.

Im a techie - so I was wondering if one of the sysop types could please tell us how we manage? What is the hardware that we use to service that?  I would assume we connect right to some fibre. How many gigabytes of stuff do we serve? We run linux I assume? What flavour? Or do we just rent some space on a commercial server?
Thanks, all.

Dude, who are you? :)
Where do these numbers come from?

Sorry, but your post has nothing to do with reality.

If you don't answer to me in PM this week, I will have to take measures I guess.

Yep here we go again - Join The Club

Pay Pay Pay Pay Pay.$$$$$$$$$$$

We're trying to keep the website free.
Unfortunately, paying royalties is something we have to face and deal with.
This website has an ad driven monetization system which means we're covering the licensing fees with our revenue generated from ads.
No payments from users.

Hey there!
