General Discussion / Missing Joe Satriani tracks
« on: August 13, 2009, 01:22:57 pm »
Hi all,

I'm sorry to inform you that i've had to remove all the Joe Satriani tracks from the site. I was contacted by Joe Satriani's manager who asked me to remove all of Joe's tracks or face legal action.

I will try to get a permission to still use the tracks, but for now all Satriani tracks are unavailable.

Jam Center / Share your jams here!
« on: January 31, 2009, 01:59:29 am »
Hi,

I know a lot of you guitar lovers record yourself jamming along to backing tracks from this site. Please share your audio recordings or links to YouTube (or similar) videos of your jams. This way you can show the world what you can do with your axe and get feedback from other guitarists.

To add audio, just click the "Additional Options..." when posting a post and add the track as an attachment. Or just add a link to wherever it is available on the net.

Thanks,

General Discussion / Guitar jam lessons
« on: September 13, 2007, 08:13:59 pm »
Hi folks,

I've added the first (of many I hope) guitar lesson to this page. It contains a basic lesson on the pentatonic scale which is a great scale to start with when you want to jam along to some of the tracks on this site. You can find the lesson here:
http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/lessons.php (link at bottom of page also)

I hope to be able to add more soon, but there's always something to do "offline" as well. Hope you enjoy this lesson, and any feedback is appreciated. Please let me know if you have any comments, corrections or such.

Thanks & Spanks / List of donators
« on: March 19, 2007, 08:58:25 pm »
Hi,

a big thanks to the very first donator to guitarbackingtrack.com:
Raymond from Canada donated 10 bucks!

All donations will be used to get better servers and more bandwidth for the site. With the lanch of MP3 downlods, the site is starting to draw massive amounts of bandwidth, so any help is appreciated. Again, thanks a lot Raymond!

General Discussion / MP3 downloads available!
« on: March 17, 2007, 12:41:33 am »
So,

I finally got around to fixing a download solution for the BTs. You can now download the tracks by clicking the "Download this backing track as MP3" link below the player when playing a BT. If the MP3 file is not up, it will say "MP3 download of this file not available. Click here to request it.". If you need that particular BT in MP3 format, just click the link and I'll be notified and I'll try to add it in a few days.

I'll have to watch the bandwidth and it may be necessary to implement some restrictions to the downloads, ie. that you'll have to be a member to download MP3's. Membership will of course be free. So please, don't download all BTs in one go as that would cripple my bandwidth.

Hope you'll enjoy the MP3's!

Edit: I think all MP3s are up now. Thanks to all that have notified me of missing files.

Share Your Tracks / Share your BT's here!

Hi,

the attachment feature on the forum has been fixed. You can now attach up to 4 tracks, each up to 20 MB in size, to each post. You can submit MP3, OGG and WMA files for now. Just click the "Additional Options..." link below when posting a post and you'll be able to attach files. Please share any backing tracks you've made here (just reply to this thread and attach it to your post or start a new post in this section). Or, if you have tracks that have been requested, reply to the request thread and attach it there.

If you for some reason can't upload the tracks here, just attach them to an e-mail and shoot it over to webmaster [at] guitarbackingtrack.com

Thanks for your contributions!

General Discussion / Welcome to GuitarBackingTrack
« on: November 08, 2006, 08:57:26 pm »
Hi,

welcome to the GuitarBackingTrack.com forums. Here you can discuss the site, backing tracks, music in general and whatever's on your mind. You can also request backing tracks.

The guitar backing tracks (BTs) on this site is intended for personal use. It's a supplement to guitar players worldwide, turning your bedroom into a full band jam session. While nothing is cooler than being in a band, every guitarist has to practice for themselves as well. With BTs you can play along to popular songs or jam along to cool grooves, without having to rely on band mates. The tracks are basically tunes with their guitars removed, making them perfect to playing along to. All tracks are made by regular guys and girls, and are used with their permission.

The BTs are currently available in MP3 format and can be played with and online player. You'll need the flash plugin for it to work, except on iOS where the builtin Quicktime player is used. Use the menu on top to navigate the bands or search using the search fields in the top right. When viewing a BT, click on the play button to play the track (it should start in a few seconds), the pause button to pause it, and the rewind button to return to the beginning of the song.

Please give me feedback on the site and the BTs, and any suggestions/comments/corrections are welcome.
