Has anyone tried this program? It's supposed to convert mp3's,wav's etc to midi. I would think that you could then take the midi ,mute the instruments you dont want and then re-record the midi with your sound software ,and maybe puttting punchier bass or tighter drums or different keyboards or something to that effect.I believe some of the guys on here have done similar editing with midi.

I just acquired this program and I'm trying it out now. It seems to be very in depth.

Edit: Although it looks promising, it seems to be very inaccurate and it doesn't recognize percussion. The finished midi was not even recognizable compared to the real song.

Hey thanks for the imput ,much apprieciated .
I was also reading some good things about Band in a Box.Apparently you can export your composition as a midi file which is not that amazing but also you can import an mp3 or wav file ,than export as midi and use your editing software .That would be cool If that in fact worked.Though this site has a large number of great backing tracks, but there are a few versions I would like to have to jam to .
I was going to download the demo ,but some features are  probably diabled.I love to try it though ,just to see if it would work for backing tracks. It does easily make good backing tracks of your own composition though. You take your chord progression, pick a style and play .There are drum tracks that you can use (and realistic sounding ).It is expensive though  .
