So,

I finally got around to fixing a download solution for the BTs. You can now download the tracks by clicking the "Download this backing track as MP3" link below the player when playing a BT. If the MP3 file is not up, it will say "MP3 download of this file not available. Click here to request it.". If you need that particular BT in MP3 format, just click the link and I'll be notified and I'll try to add it in a few days.

I'll have to watch the bandwidth and it may be necessary to implement some restrictions to the downloads, ie. that you'll have to be a member to download MP3's. Membership will of course be free. So please, don't download all BTs in one go as that would cripple my bandwidth.

Hope you'll enjoy the MP3's!

Edit: I think all MP3s are up now. Thanks to all that have notified me of missing files.

Hmm, that's weird..

It seems it is a Firefox problem. It works in Opera and IE7 (and IE6), but Firefox tries to save the file as .htm. I'll look into this and try to fix it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Well,

the problem is that Firefox and IE and Opera have small differences in how they interpret HTML and in this case headers. I think the problem is fixed now, just had to add a few "s in the script. At least it works fine in all browser I have tested now (various versions of Firefox, IE and Opera). I've also added hot-link protection, so that the downloads have to be linked from this page in order to work. Otherwise other pages could link directly to the MP3s and steal my bandwidth. If there are any more issues, please let me know. I appreciate the feedback and will work towards making this page as good as it can get.

Hi,
I've just joined the site and I am also experiencing the download problem i.e. html file instead of mp3. I'm using IE7. Great site otherwise

Hmm, that's weird.. Hopefully I'll get the time to look into it soon. I use IE7 and it works fine, but when I tried with IE6 on Windows 2000 at work it didn't work. But it seems all three major browsers work on Windows XP. Are you using Windows 2000? Or maybe Vista?

Hey guys,

I think I have solved the problem now. But I don't have the opportunity to test this on every browser/OS combination. If anyone experiences this again, could you please post what browser version and Operating System (OS) you use?

I know it works for Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), Firefox 1.5 and 2, and Opera 9+ on Windows XP, and IE6 and Firefox 2 on Windows 2000. If the problem still persists, the quick fix is to rename the downloaded file to something.mp3, where "something" is the name of the song or similar. It should then play as MP3.

Does this happen when you left-click on the "Download this track as MP3"? You could try right-clicking and "Save as.." or whatever AOL calls it. If the file saves as .htm, you can try to rename it to mp3 and play it.

Hi, i use AOL 9 and use Windows ME, when i download a song it also saves it as a .doc file, as mentioned above i simply add .mp3 at the end of the song title and the icon instantly changes to a windows media player icon and it then plays and works fine.
Fantastic site by the way, thanks for being there.

Hey Webmaster ... great, great site!  I found it by accident and absolutely love it!  I've been trying to find backing tracks to practice my rhythm with and could never find anything half way decent or they wanted to charge you per track ... I'll definitely donate Smiley

I was wondering if you could Social Distortion backing tracks?  Songs like:

- Ring of Fire
- Story of My Life
- Ball and Chain
- I Was Wrong
- Reach for the Sky
- Far Behind

I hope that't not too much to ask!  Thanks!!!
